She went on to become a sworn Deputy Sheriff, working assignments in custody, patrol and administration until she retired.   She currently works as the Training Manager for a municipal police department and has served for three years as president and four years as vice-president of a county-wide training managers association.   Laurie is responsible for the documentation, certification and tracking of all departmental training.  In addition, she developed and teaches a POST-certified Sexual Harassment course and also teaches Law Enforcement Officers Flying Armed courses.  Laurie serves on the POST Electronic Course Certification Committee and has coordinated large, multi-agency training needs assessment meetings for POST Area 10.   Laurie holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, with a minor in Human Resource Management, from National University and a Master of Arts in e-Education from the University of Phoenix.
