Heiwa. This means "peace" in Japanese. The kanji for
Heiwa is above.
Why is peace important to a karateka? A peaceful path is what each
student should strive to walk in their daily lives. Being peaceful is not being weak, nor is it a mark of someone who
will not fight.
However, being a peaceful person means always seeking to solve one's problems
and conflicts without violence. No man who turns the other cheek should be chastised for doing so. Only when one's life,
or the life of another, is in danger should a physical response be considered. Violence for the sake of violence is
never the solution.
Walk peacefully in all you do.
